In June 2021 McCaig’s Tower in Oban was lit up by projections featuring Colmcille Legacy Award artists. Due to the success of this award scheme, Illuminations, a cross venue projections project was designed and took place on 7 December 2021. This commemorated the birth date of St Colmcille on 7 December 521 AD and celebrated the artistic achievements of all of those supported by The Colmcille Legacy Award. Illuminations took place across Argyll and Bute and was staged at three iconic locations.
Illuminations displayed works created as part of Duais Dìleab Chaluim Chille / The Colmcille Legacy Award Scheme for the first time across the region and linked across borders to mark St Colmcille/Columba birth in Ireland and death in Iona (597 AD). Other events also took place in collaboration with Foras Na Gaeilge Foras Na Gaeilge in Ireland.
Listen to Duais Dìleab Chaluim Chille / The Colmcille Legacy artists on Radio nan Gàidheal (8/12/21 5pm). Or watch their segment at BBC Naidheachdan Facebook
