Commission Duration: 4 half days @ Scottish Artist Union rates (3-5 years experience)
Location: Campbeltown Museum, Campbeltown
CHARTS invites applications from textile/knitwear artists to serve as project mentor for Keeping it Creel. Keeping it Creel aims to improve heritage awareness, create access to the museum and support the development of the education and community engagement programme. The project mentor will work closely with museum staff, plan and deliver workshops, and advise on knitting materials and techniques. Keeping it Creel has been made possible by The Stafford Trust, as part of the existing place-based cultural partnership between liveArgyll and CHARTS.
Summary of the Role
The successful candidate will be required to:
Lead and guide workshops at Campbeltown Museum.
Collaborate with museum staff and local partners on planning, materials, and delivery.
Engage with local knitting groups to source traditional patterns and knowledge.
Promote intergenerational learning and cultural understanding.
Support digital activity, including capturing images and text for an online showcase.
Contribute to project evaluation with the museum and CHARTS team.
Who We're Looking For:
Essential Skills and Experience:
Experience in knitting or textile arts, with a strong interest in heritage craft.
Experience in public engagement and workshop facilitation.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Organised and self-motivated, able to work independently and as part of a team.
Comfortable using digital tools for planning and collaboration.
