Callout for collaboration with manuscript maker Thomas Keyes for Colmcille 1500 award

By Thomas Keyes

Many thanks for all the responses to the below appeal - Thomas has now found a collaborator and has made some other interesting links for future projects. So, it has been quite a successful callout! Thanks everyone - CHARTS, 26 November 2020.

I’m looking for a Gaelic writer to collaborate with to apply for the Colmcille 1500 award. I produce insular manuscripts on parchment using traditional Columban techniques so have a body of work relevant to the award criteria except for the fact that it is mainly in Latin and the few phrases of Irish I possess are not up to a translation. I’d be interested in hearing from anyone who has some existing Gaelic text that they think would work in harmony with my artwork or could write something in response to it. I’ve got full illuminated folios based on the Book of Kells at the same scale, some more contemporary pieces with graffiti lettering in them and video pieces going through the entire process of manuscript production as it would have taken place on Iona. Some of my work can be found here www.scribalstyles.net and a video is here.
