Jane Delaford Taylor is an award-winning British artist who works from her home studio beside the beautiful Holy Loch in Argyll, Scotland.
Originally trained in fine art and portraiture, she began taking freelance work in publishing to provide a regular income while raising a young family, quickly gaining a London agent and experience in genres ranging from fiction to children's educational. Major clients over the years include Hay House, Macmillan and the National Gallery, and Jane has also illustrated a number of bestselling oracle decks by international authors such as Diana Cooper, Amanda Ellis and Dr Steven Farmer. Her original paintings have also gained popularity within the MBS (Mind/Body/Spirit) community in recent years and now sell worldwide.
Her work draws on themes of biophilia and our connectedness with nature, taking inspiration from the natural environment, folklore and legend. Working primarily in oils on canvas, Jane blends light and colour to create dreamscapes that lift and brighten any space.
'I love to create pieces that tell a story, or which inspire the viewer to invent one. I draw ideas from the natural environment, folklore and legend, and I have a deep interest in neuroaesthetics and the role art plays in our mental wellbeing. These are the main elements that feed the roots of my artist practise. Art soothes, heals, inspires and uplifts us, (both artist and viewer) and I feel the creative process in itself becomes a spiritual practise too when this is recognised.'
