REFLECT linked four projects across Argyll, with artists working in partnership with local communities, heritage gardens and development trusts to design new spaces and artworks for memory and reflection. The project grew from the Remembering Together consultation carried out in Argyll and Bute in 2022/23, where the majority of participants noted the importance that the outdoors and natural environment played in supporting the mental health of our communities during the pandemic.
Locations:
- Shelter, Garelochhead, led by Emma Henderson at Centre 81
- THIS IS ENOUGH / GÀRRADH GU LEÒR, Isle of Mull, Aros Park Historic Walled Garden, by Somewhere/Nina Pope and Karen Guthrie
- Silver Linings, Isle of Bute, Luke Winter
- Looking for light in the darkness, Campbeltown Museum, Linda McCartney Memorial Garden, led by Kirsten Millar and Muriel MacKaveney
“We at Greenspace Scotland have really enjoyed working with CHARTS on Remembering Together since 2021. Given the co-created and collaborative nature of the project, CHARTS has been an ideal local partner to deliver this community and artist-led project as it required an organisation with not only local knowledge of the diverse communities and local artists but also sensitivity to the subject and ability to manage the challenges of such a complex project.” - Carla Almeida, Remembering Together Programme Co-Lead
REFLECT, Remembering Together was funded by the Scottish Government and delivered by Greenspace Scotland in partnership with Argyll and Bute Council and the Culture, Heritage & Arts Assembly, Argyll & Isles (CHARTS).
