In March 2020, CHARTS worked in partnership with Dr Michael Pierre Johnson from The School of Innovation and Technology at Glasgow School of Art to research the impacts of creative collaborations in Argyll and Bute. The research project, Microcluster Networks Argyll and Isles, focused on providing bespoke development support through one-to-one sessions, webinars and workshops for organisations and individuals across the region.

The Microcluster Networks in Argyll and Isles research collaboration project's Creative Growth Resource Pack. CHARTS are delighted to provide downloadable mapping templates based on Dr Michael Pierre Johnson’s Creative Growth Model. The toolkit provides you with templates, directions of use and a resource list, design to help create funding applications and develop projects.

PLACE MAKERS : MICROCLUSTER NETWORKS // DUNOON GOES POP

Place Makers is part of Microcluster Networks, a research project created and delivered in collaboration with Dr Michael Pierre Johnson from The Innovation School at Glasgow School of Art to investigate the impacts of creative collaborations in Argyll and the Isles. Dunoon Goes Pop focused on developing The People of Place: Shop Keepers of Dunoon. Their work touched on extracting local heritage through using archival materials to develop drink products, maps, visual marketing material and an exhibition on Dunoon High Street inspired by local historical businessman George Stirling’s soft drink factory (1880-1970).

Place Makers is part of Microcluster Networks, a research project created and delivered in collaboration with Dr Michael Pierre Johnson from The Innovation School at Glasgow School of Art to investigate the impacts of creative collaborations in Argyll and the Isles. Eco Creative Clusters worked with pre-existing local networks, by creating a community dye garden on the grounds of The Rockfield Centre. Helping to bring traditional dye methods back into Oban’s public consciousness.

PLACE MAKERS : MICROCLUSTER NETWORKS // TAKE FLIGHT: SO:AR ISLAND COLLECTIVE

Place Makers is part of Microcluster Networks, a research project created and delivered in collaboration with Dr Michael Pierre Johnson from The Innovation School at Glasgow School of Art to investigate the impacts of creative collaborations in Argyll and the Isles. SO:AR Island Collective is comprised of three artists living and working on Jura who formed the Take Flight project for Place Makers. Take Flight resulted in a series of workshops and collaborations that took place across Jura aiming to engage local residents and visitors. Their work focused on how to host creative projects that were centred around locals.
