English
Raghnaid Sandilands is a writer and artist whose work draws Gaelic culture. Her current counter mapping serves as both a record of affection and a quiet petition to nurture our relationship with the precious ecologies of old-growth forest fragments, once known and named by people deeply connected to the land. Looking to song, lore, and naming, she draws on these connecting threads of Gaelic culture in her research, exploring the subtle colours of windfall bark, lichens, and the organic forms of forests.
Raghnaid’s work has been displayed in exhibitions including Fragile Correspondence Scotland | Venice 2024, exhibited also at the V&A Dundee and at Buaile 2025, an exhibition of artists inspired by Gaelic language and culture.
