Island Culture Officer is a pivotal post within the Culture, Heritage and Arts Assembly, Argyll and Isles, commonly known as the CHARTS network. Located within the CHARTS project staff team, the post holder will be responsible for assisting island communities in Argyll and Bute, identifying future funding opportunities and supporting new and existing arts, culture, and heritage projects helping to reinvigorate local economies.

This post is designed to grow creative networks and projects across island communities helping to develop visitor experiences sensitive to island needs whilst building on previous research projects carried out by CHARTS.

CHARTS Islands Heritage and Culture Programme is a year-long project of cultural activity that is funded by the Scottish Government in partnership with Argyll and Bute Council.

Islands Secretary, Mairi Gougeon said,

"This wonderful project highlights the Scottish Government’s ongoing commitment to supporting Scotland’s islands, and delivering against our National Islands Plan, through commitments developed in collaboration with local communities. This project is a fine example of embracing the natural environment, languages and dialects, and cultural heritage of our islands. By nurturing the creative and cultural industries, we can also make a substantial contribution to driving economic activity.

CHARTS will undoubtedly support, develop and promote the creative talents of islanders and help to ensure that our islands’ culture and heritage further widens its audience - both nationally and further afield.”
