Argyll and Bute TSI: part time work as a mentor/coach for young people
Posted by CHARTS
Do you have the skills to help a young person succeed in a volunteer placement?
We know in Argyll and Bute that we have lots of skilled people who might have the time to take up part time paid work as a mentor or coach to a young person for up to two hours per week as they undertake a volunteer placement in the charity or community sector. You could have had experience and training as a teacher, social worker, careers adviser, a youth worker, trainer or counsellor that could be put to great use as we build back better.
Argyll & Bute Third Sector Interface is looking for appropriately skilled people to act as paid coaches or mentors to provide support to up to 5 young people each. This is part of the volunteer strand of the Young Person’s Guarantee in Argyll & Bute. The coaches/mentors will be required to support each young person for a maximum of 10 months, as they undertake the volunteering opportunity with a hope of transition to employment. How many hours you do is up to you though, but it will be between a minimum of two hours and a maximum of ten hours per week.
This work will be funded by the Scottish Government in partnership with Argyll & Bute Council, therefore familiarity with Argyll & Bute is preferred but not essential. The positions will require a PVG check and will be home-based but might involve some travel. It is likely though that support will be provided in the main via video call.
Hourly rate - £20-25 per hour (negotiable)
Email CV and covering letter to apply to laurenmartin@argylltsi.org.uk
Closing date 5pm Tuesday the 6th of July 2021. Interviews will be held online.
