Tapestry and Signwriting Exhibition
Posted by Jenny Hunter
Traditional signwriting is beautiful and powerful and helps to attract customers to our shops, enhancing individual brands whilst adding to the character of our town centres. This exhibition features the work of Frank Carty from Artisan Artworks.
Also on display is the Cowal Tapestry – a series of 4 tapestries by the Gael Stitchers. The needlework is by 6 members of the district (Catherine Harrison, Madalene Lee, Ann MacGilp, Maureen McKellar, Maureen Robinson and Margaret Smith) all of whom worked on the Great Tapestry of Scotland. The Cowal Tapestry panels were designed by local artist Dorothy McNeil. Thanks to Marie Paterson for historical input.
This exhibition and associated events are sponsored by the Dunoon CARS Project, working in partnership with the Dunoon Burgh Hall. To find out more about the CARS project and the regeneration work being undertaken in the town, visit https://www.argyll-bute.gov.uk/dunoon-regeneration
