Street Theatre Workshop and Performance
Posted by Jordan and Skinner
Jordan & Skinner are creating a street theatre performance to accompany our tour of The Time Machine and we want you to get involved!
If you would like to try a bit of outdoor performance, we will bring along some props, costumes and with a brief 1 hour workshop before hand, get you ready to go out on the streets with us to be part of the show!
This playful, engaging performance will take place around Argyll Gardens at 1.30pm to bring a little bit of the show to the wider public. Street theatre is a very democratic form of performance. It’s free, it’s open to everyone and you can just walk away if you don’t like it. We want to give as many people as possible the chance to engage with what we make and the piece will be creative, fun, thought provoking, family friendly and easy to engage with.
The workshop will be led by Jordan and Skinner’s Melanie Jordan: http://www.melaniecjordan.com. Melanie is a Gaulier trained performer, director and theatre maker based in Glasgow. Melanie is also a Physical Theatre Practitioner with Surge – supporting street arts, physical theatre and circus in Scotland – where she has directed, choreographed and performed in a number of their productions, as well as running Scotland’s largest street theatre festival, Surge Festival.
What to expect: This workshop is suitable for youth theatre participants, community drama group participants and the general public. No street theatre experience necessary!
Please wear comfortable clothes and footwear.
Recommended for Participatory Performers Age 12+
The performance piece will be family friendly and fun for all ages.
