Norman Bissell will discuss his new book Living on an Island Expressing the Earth with Alan Riach, poet and Professor of Scottish Literature at the University of Glasgow. They will talk about city life in Glasgow, how they both came across Kenneth White and geopoetics as well as the importance of the natural world in their own work. The book's emphasis on women forerunners of geopoetics and how the geopoetics movement has grown over the last 30 years will also feature. Alan will talk about the MacDiarmid-White connection, the former's Brownsbank Cottage and his latest book The MacDiarmid Memorandum. They will discuss the future of geopoetics and how the Scottish Centre for Geopoetics' research and resource base on the Isle of Luing could be developed.
There will be lots of time for Questions and Discussion.
