Artists Talk: INSTAR
Friday 5th July 2024, 7.30pm – 8.30pm
The Old Steadings, Hynish
FREE
INSTAR is a UK based artistic collaboration between artist Trish Evans and Nick Humphreys, who together have been creating deeper connections to the natural world through contemporary art since 2013. They join us on Tiree to start research their new project, Ecotone. Ecotone is a journey around the UK coastline, an exploration of colour and how it affects and inspires the people who live and work in the lands between.‘Why Tiree - We have chosen Tiree as our starting point as we thought a great colour to start our journey would be white (arguably not a colour), beginning with a clean canvas that we can daub with colour along our journey. Tiree is famed for its white beaches so it would be great to find out what this means to the people who live and work here, but also hear about any other colours in the islands flora or fauna that inspire or are felt to be typical of island life’
Join us to hear more about their practise and project and to share your experience of colour on Tiree. Refreshment’s will be provided
This talk is part of a new programme of cultural conversations from the Tiree Makery thanks to support from CHARTS Argyll and Isles.
