Guthan Nàdar welcomes all for an evening of music, story and film with artists from across Highlands and Islands. Join us as we explore the bonds between nature, history and Gaelic folklore through traditional music, interactive storytelling and immersive cinema.

Beura (World Premiere)
This new Gaelic arts project brings together music, film and verse to reimagine the ancient Celtic story of the Cailleach Bheur, the goddess of nature, storms and winter, for the modern climate era. Combining the intense landscape visuals of Orcadian filmmaker Gregor D. Sinclair with a new musical work for string ensemble by celebrated Highland composer Lisa Robertson, as well as poetry and field recordings, ‘Beura’ is a live experience unlike any other.

Wildwood Cello Duo
Cellists Keena Wildman and Rebekah Woodier perform folktales and songs from across the Gàidhealtachd which connect disparate legends of the Cailleach with people, landscape and climate. Expect traditional and contemporary music, interactive storytelling and purpose as Wildwood explore what role humans play in this changing world.

Echoes of Torloisk
Harpist Ailie Robertson embarks on an immersive exploration of the clarsach, Gaelic culture and the landscape of the West Highlands. Inspired by a collection of over 300 melodies from the Isle of Mull, Ailie’s performance combines live clarsach, oral tradition and an evolving soundscape of environmental and archival recordings to reconnect us with our rich musical heritage rooted in place.

Cailean Jennet
Hear songs from the Gàidhealtachd old and new from upcoming Duror singer-songwriter Cailean Jennet, recipient of this year’s Sgrìobh/Scrieve commission with Tobar an Dualchais. With mentorship from such artists as Mary Ann Kennedy and Mischa MacPherson, Cailean has released three singles to date and will perform as-yet unheard new pieces at Guthan Nàdair.
