10am to 1pm BST Slate Geology and Poetry Workshop led by Patrick Corbett, Emeritus Professor of Geology, Heriot-Watt University.

2pm to 5pm Writing an Island Workshop led by Norman Bissell, author and Director of the Scottish Centre for Geopoetics.

Please bring a pen and paper with you! These workshops will be outdoors and indoors, weather permitting, and are the first in a series of FREE monthly workshops on Luing for writers led by Norman Bissell and for artists and crafters led by Lottie May. There will be 5 free workshops for writers and 5 for artists and crafters which will take place each month until November 2023.

With participants' consent, some parts of the workshops will be filmed for potential inclusion in a documentary film Expressing the Earth being made about geopoetics.

As well as providing advice and inspiration for writers and artists/crafters on Luing, the purpose of this project is to create supportive networks for writers and artists and crafters which will continue in the years to come.

It is intended that some of the poems, prose and artwork produced will be published in a special print issue of Stravaig journal and in future issues of the Luing Newsletter.
