Join us at An Tobar Gallery on Mull, for the first exhibition of new art works made by Alexander and Susan Maris for The Well at the World’s End. Open until 25 October. For more than twenty-five years, Alexander and Susan Maris have collaborated to produce images and objects which reflect Scotland’s cultural histories and activate the signs and symbolism of the Scottish landscape. In 2017 the Marises were commissioned by Cultural Documents to focus their work onto the marine and geological area known historically as Lorne and undertook a research-action called 'The Journey to I' in which Alexander walked from Schiehallion to Iona, offering artefacts for discussion during encounters with the people of the area, collecting materials, and exchanging knowledge. They’ve now developed the first in a new series of exhibitions which comprise tapestries woven from wool dyed with lichen collected on The Journey to I, photographs, texts, drawings, Oghams, and the water of sacred wells.
