Draw comics on the seashore with Rosie Cunningham
Posted by CHARTS
Gather with us on the beach for a wee explore. We’ll use art challenges and methods of reportage and observation before we head to the Rockfield art room.
Rosie Cunningham is an illustrator, comic maker and seaweed enthusiast, who works and sells throughout Scotland. “The treasures unearthed at tidelines have always fascinated me - shells, sea glass, mermaid’s purses and urchins - but the Argylll Hope Spot residency allowed me to bring my attention to the hidden natural wonders of the marine world just beyond the reach of land dwellers. I’m obsessed with seaweeds and their rich and varied forms, textures and colours, and I have been experimenting with collecting and pressing seaweed to reveal some of its secrets. Telling stories is at the heart of my work; through comics, making connections with people, nature and within myself to communicate something universal and often joyful.“
Excitingly, we'll also be joined by Dave from Adventure Oban who will be helping to gently reveal species along the shore for us!
Workshop suitable for adults or young people (14 and above but please attend with an adult if you are under 18.) Suitable for beginners or those looking to learn more.
