Coppiced Hazel Weaving
Posted by CHARTS
Coppiced Hazel Woven Viewing panels is a free particle workshop at Morag's Pavillion, (near play park, West Bay) where boat builder Ben Neville will teach you about coppicing tools and techniques.
During the workshop, you will learn about traditional coppicing tools and techniques including splitting and weaving hazel rods. This workshop will help develop panels for a prototype beach hut with a view. During the workshop, you will also get the chance to learn about the local heritage of beach huts on West Bay, Dunoon and the research generated through the We are building a beach hut project.
The project is delivered in partnership with the Dunoon Area Alliance and Dunoon CARS project. The project aims to involve people living in Dunoon with the regeneration of West Bay by exploring the heritage of beach huts and looking at how the natural and built environment will be impacted by climate change. Thank you to our funders: CHArts: Evolve and Heritage Horizons, Dunoon CARS, Dunoon Area Alliance and Scottish Towns Partnership.
