Lyndsey’s intricate embroidery works using naturally dyed materials such as Irish linen, silk, and recycled plastic thread investigate the symbolic relationship between nature and people. Her works have been exhibited throughout the UK and Ireland as well as internationally in Berlin, Paris, New York, Blönduós, Karachi, Oaxaca and Quebec.
Now based in Ards Peninsula in Northern Ireland, Lyndsey teaches Art and Design History and Theory at Ulster University. Lyndsey was the international collaborator for the EcoCreative Cluster: Nettle Circle (International) project that connected Oban and Malin Head in the Republic of Ireland where Lyndsey used to live.
In this event, Lyndsey will share the fascinating trajectory of her creative practice, and how more recently she has been researching and experimenting with sustainable textile techniques, increasingly utilising found and discarded raw materials alongside natural pigments.
There will be a Q&A with audience members.
Conversations With Artists series is curated by Naoko Mabon, as part of EcoCreative Cluster project. The 2024 season activity of EcoCreative Cluster is supported by the award received by Oban Communities Trust from The National Lottery Community Fund, which was made possible by National Lottery.
