Get creating while you're isolating! Join us for a LIVE and interactive tinkering with textiles workshop!

With the help of ZOOM you'll be able to crochet-a-long in the comfort and safety of your own home.

In this workshop we’ll make a foundation chain, learn the double crochet stitch (US terms), how to increase and create these beautiful roses over just 2 rows! You can make it into a brooch to pin on, or it could be the start of an everlasting bouquet of crocheted roses.

This workshop takes place online so you will need to have internet access and the materials listed below to hand. It's suitable for beginners, anyone who needs to brush up on their crochet skills, or if you just fancy having a go.

What you'll need to craft along. . .

the pattern (this will be emailed before the workshop)

a crochet hook (I'll be using a 3.0mm hook)

suitable yarn (I'll be using Sirdar Aura Chunky which is a colour effect yarn. I would recommend using something thicker than normally recommended for the crochet hook you have, but we'll work with whatever you have to hand.)

scissors

a big eye needle

a cup of tea and a biscuit (I'll be having Lapsang Souchong and a Jammy Dodger!)

Optional extra. . .

If you are local (Helensburgh or Cardross) we can provide a kit with everything you'll need to complete this project. It will include the yarn I will be using, a 3.0mm hook, a brooch back and a big eye needle.

You have 3 colour options to choose from:

1. MARNI (red/ pink/purple variation ) - top

2. ASTRID (white, green, pale blue variation) - middle

3. NICO (pink/orange/ blue/turquoise variation) - bottom

Note that this is a colour effect yarn and we cannot guarantee which variation of colours you will receive.

Kits are £5.00 and will be delivered to your doorstep ahead of the workshop.

Taking this workshop is Sharon Goodwin from Sew Silly Lily, a graduate of Glasgow School of Art with a lifelong passion for textiles, craft and design.
