A Day of Mindfulness and Qigong
Posted by Susan Coon
Amanda Scott will open with a guided meditation to set the intentions for the day. Meditation sessions can be done seated or lying down. We suggest you bring something to lie on and a blanket for your comfort.
Suse Coon will then teach a classic Qigong routine, Ba Duan Jin, translated as The Eight Pieces of Brocade or sometimes The Eight Fine Treasures, which stimulates and harmonises the meridians and the five organs of the body. The Eight-section exercises date back to the Song Dynasty (960-1279) when they were allegedly developed by Zhongli Quan and Lü Dongbin, two of the Eight Immortals. Brocade was highly prized cloth, the best, so this is thought to be the 'best' exercise.
Participants will also receive a worksheet to enable them to practise at home, should they wish.
The day will finish with Amanda leading a Mindfulness body scan with compassion.
Refreshments will be provided and participants are invited to being vegetarian lunch to share or to go out for lunch at one of the many local facilities.
