A Bit Trickier Crochet LIVE | Ollie Owl Keyring
Posted by Helensburgh Art Hub
There's more to Ollie than meets his beady eyes! In the 13 rounds of crochet it takes to make him you'll learn how to form a magic ring, increase evenly, colour change, join as you go, double decrease and sew as you go. Phew! And at the end of all that you'll have completed a project that's also useful!
This workshop takes place online so you will need to have internet access and the materials listed below to hand. It's ideal for beginners ready to take their crochet to the next level, anyone interested in Amigurumi or anyone who just needs to refresh some crochet skills.
What you'll need to craft along. . .
4 ply or double knit yarn in 3 colours + yarn for some embroidery (you won't need much)
a 3.0mm crochet hook
2 x 18 ligne (11.5mm) white buttons, ideally 2 hole
2 x 4mm black beads
a 25mm split ring with jump ring attached
a little toy filling
a small eye needle for beading and a big eye needle
scissors
thread
:o) There's no reason why you can't use a bigger hook and bigger yarn to make a bigger owl. The pattern and techniques are just the same.
Optional extra. . .
If you are local (Helensburgh, Cardross, The Vale, Garelochhead or on the Rosneath peninsula) we can provide a kit with everything you'll need to complete this project. It will include the yarns, hook, buttons, beads, split ring and toy filling.
You have 2 colour options to choose from:
1. RAINFOREST
2. SCARLET
Kits are £5.00 and will be delivered to your doorstep ahead of the workshop. Send Helensburgh Art Hub a pm via facebook with your colour choice and address details by the Wednesday before the workshop date. Payment is by bank transfer.
Taking this workshop is Sharon Goodwin from Sew Silly Lily, a graduate of Glasgow School of Art with a lifelong passion for textiles, craft and design.
