The COVID-19 pandemic has brought many challenges to our world, not least to our creative & cultural industries. When lockdown was announced in Scotland, the diary of Glendaruel-based Social Enterprise The Walking Theatre Company, was completely emptied. Their unique brand of interactive, outdoor Walking Theatre was put on hold, with over 35 actors & creative freelance professionals losing work, and audiences losing the chance to be immersed in innovative outdoor theatre.
The Core Company kept together online, staying in contact and trying to keep spirits high – a task which became more and more challenging as life in lockdown became our ‘new normal’. The Company had to find a way to keep our creatives creating, and our audiences entertained, and so, the Zippedy Zoom Club was born!
The Zippedy Zoom Club is an online activity hub for children and families to take part in safely at home together, online! There are lots of fun things to watch, learn, listen, make, bake, and create, and storytime characters to play along with too! With activities for children to do by themselves to give the adults some 'time out', and structured ideas for friends and families in different households to come together to engage and play with the youngsters via online platforms, there is something for everyone! Why not invite your best friends for a virtual tea party, or have Granny or Grandpa read the bedtime story!
The Zippedy Zoom Club aims to bring lots of fun and laughter to households across Scotland and beyond. It encourages positive interaction and communication between families and friends online who are unable to spend their usual time together due to the pandemic, and offers parents and guardians the opportunity of time to focus on themselves while the children are occupied and having fun at the Zippedy Zoom Club.
