In Argyll and Bute we have a strong cultural identity, rich in the Gaelic language, archaeology, architecture, music and the visual arts. This has helped to create a strong sense of place that helps retain and attract people to live in our community and encourage others to visit, often participating in our numerous events and festivals.
We want to raise our profile as a centre for cultural activity and create a vibrant and sustainable creative sector.
Argyll and Bute Council works to:
•Run the Strategic Events and Festivals Fund, Strategic Events and Festivals (SEF) Fund.
•Support Gaelic Culture, through various projects such as Colmcille.
•Work with many partners to support the development of key cultural hubs.
•Support the development of a sustainable creative business sector through the creation of a network of effective regional hubs with CHARTS.
•Run the Helensburgh Outdoor Museum Grant Scheme.
•Facilitate Film and TV production in Argyll Filming in Scotland and Bute.
