Alison was born in Glasgow, lived in Ayrshire for thirty years and now lives in Helensburgh, Argyll & Bute, with a sea view. Her artistic inspiration comes from the Glasgow Style of the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries which encompasses various artistic styles such as Arts & Crafts, Art Nouveau, Japonism, Symbolism, the Aesthetic Movement, early Art Deco and even a little bit of the Pre Raphaelites. All these movements became synthesized by Charles Rennie Mackintosh, his wife Margaret Macdonald Mackintosh as well as others to make the ‘Glasgow Style’. She is particularly inspired by the work of Margaret Macdonald Mackintosh and her Gesso Panels. Gesso is the primary material Alison works in producing works from 7x5 inches to 60 x 20 inches. She has exhibited in Casa Batllo, Barcelona in 2013, The House for an Art Lover in 2017 and in various galleries in the West of Scotland.
