Jenny Soep

Artist and documentary illustrator Jenny Soep is specialised in 'Drawing the Experience', creating 'action portraits' live during concerts, art(s) and special events for more than 20 years, drawing the likes of Björk, Patti Smith, Youssou N'Dour, Mogwai, Primal Scream, Simple Minds and The Proclaimers. She has also created drawings for weddings, conferences, poetry festivals as well as regularly leading workshops for all ages and abilities.

She has also been in numerous collaborations such as with musicians, dancers, actors, creating live illustrations often projected on a large screen, but has also been known to use paint or 'filmjölk' (Swedish sour yoghurt) on windows, and most recently sand-painting at the Nordic Music Days festival in Glasgow in duo ’Shapes of Sounds’ together with sound-artist/composer Alexandra Nilsson (SWE).

She started life in Carradale, Kintyre before her family moved up to Kilchrenan, attending Oban High School before heading to Dundee to study Illustration & Printmaking at Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art & Design. Now based in Sweden, she still gets back home for work and family, having created drawings for Edinburgh's 'Castle of Light', Connect Music Festival, and the 250 year celebrations of Sir Walter Scott. Jenny has exhibited locally and internationally, with work currently in Resipole Studios, Ardnamurchan and An Tobar, Mull.
