Alicia Hendrick was born in Argyll, studied at Glasgow School of Art, and has her studio overlooking Tobermory Bay on the Isle of Mull. Alicia will be creating new work from time spent in contemplation and drawing at the Hermit’s cell on the Isle of Iona. She will develop this work in her studio incorporating Gaelic text in collaboration with Alasdair Whyte. This will include using graphite, beeswax, embroidered text and incorporated natural elements as well as printmaking. Alicia hopes to learn from the legacy of Colmcille’s life as a hermit, demonstrating the positives that can be gained from time spent in isolation to a lockdown weary world.
