Celebrating Gaelic in Argyll

To celebrate Seachdain na Gàidhlig / World Gaelic Week, 21-27 March 2022, we are launching a digital arts resource pack for Primary and Secondary School pupils in partnership with Gaelic Community Development, Argyll & Bute Council. This aims to promote Gaelic language, poetry and storytelling and has been supported by Heritage Horizons, a CHARTS project in partnership with the Argyll & Bute Museum and Heritage Forum, increasing access to Gaelic for young people.

Work produced by pupils will be displayed during the celebration of Seachdain na Gàidhlig World Gaelic Week, including when CHARTS will be highlighting a range of Gaelic projects at a special event held to be held at Hermitage Park, Helensburgh on 24 March.

These digital resource packs aim to provide learning opportunities and activities across three age groups:

  • Primary 1-3
  • Primary 4-7
  • S1-3

We are inviting schools participating in each category the opportunity to have their contributions displayed on the CHARTS website, highlighted during Gaelic Week and for schools to take part in our competition during Seachdain na Gàidhlig . Prizes of Gaelic Book Council tokens will be awarded for each age group:

  • 1st prize = £20 Gaelic Book Council Token

  • 2nd prize = £15 Gaelic Book Council Token

  • 3rd prize = £10 Gaelic Book Council Token
