Conservation Studio February

The Argyll Collection, Reconnected In Glasgow

At the start of February, Reconnected's Research Manager Kirsty, Project Manager Ros, and  Trainee Lily Vaughan took a team trip to Glasgow. Their first stop was to visit the studio of Conservator Sylvia Krauss. There, they met Sylvia and Dr Kate Cowcher from the University of St. Andrews and Professor Christina Young from the University of Glasgow. As part of Kate’s research project, three pieces from the African collection have been undergoing conservation work, including the reframing of Sam Ntiro’s ‘Cutting Wood’.  Some great discussions were had about future partnership working with both Kate and Christina.

In the afternoon, Ros, Kirsty and Lily visited the Hunterian Art Gallery to view ‘The Trembling Museum’ exhibition.  This was a fantastic opportunity for Lily to explore ways in which to approach her forthcoming exhibition, ‘Awaken: The Argyll Collection’.
