Sàimh Sound

Sàimh Sound is an audio-visual arts collective based in Scotland. The project creates meditative works observing Scotland’s cultural and natural heritage through the lens of atmospheric imagery and spatialised textural sound and music.

In August 2021, we (Rory & Colin) travelled to Colin’s home island of Lismore to spend a week camping and creating a series of works reflecting on the island’s geology, flora, fauna, folklore and history. Our days were spent wandering the island recording, filming, producing, writing, drawing and setting up mini-installations to be documented. The works encourage “slow tourism,” a set of ideals for travel that prioritise sustainability, respect for the environment and highland exploration that benefits rural communities and grassroots art.
