ILLUMINATIONS

In June 2021 McCaig’s Tower in Oban was lit up by projections featuring Colmcille Legacy Award artists. Following on from this event on 7 December 2021 CHARTS filled iconic sites in Argyll and Bute with art and music to mark the life and legacy of St Colmcille.

Illuminations displayed works created as part of Duais Dìleab Chaluim Chille / The Colmcille Legacy Award Scheme for the first time across the region and linked across borders to mark St Colmcille/Columba birth in Ireland and death in Iona (597 AD). Three Iconic sites were involved in this project: Ardrishaig - near the Egg Shed, The Queen’s Hall in Dunoon and McCaig’s Tower in Oban.

To coincide with Illuminations several other events took place in collaboration with Foras Na Gaeilge in Ireland. These surrounding events celebrated Gaelic arts and heritage with talks, poetry and art:

Illmuniations December 2021 showcase and showreel

CHARTS is continuing to support Gaelic language and is currently pioneering a new Gaelic cultural programme, Teangan Earra-Ghàidheal, a translation and language partnership project between CHARTS, Mull and Tiree Community Councils and the Mull and Iona Gaelic. Supported by Bòrd na Gàidhlig.
