Hello I Graduated in Drawing and Painting in 1965 from Glasgow School of Art. During my student days at the college I was taught how to see through drawing and how to apply paint by inspirational tutors like Duncan Shanks, late George Devlin, late Geoff Squires and late Sinclair Thomson. I taught as a principal teacher for 30 years before I took early retirement in 1995 to set up Fyne Studios/the Hidden Gallery with my painter wife Jean Bell.. Sent to Japan in 1982 to set up art correspondence courses in Tokyo by ICS (International Correspondence School). Represented Scotland in a week long Arts Festival in 1992 in Dortmund. Short listed for a World Wide Art Competition run by the magazine 'Aesthetica' in 2012. Works in private and public collections.
Prefer to be known as a painter rather than an artist as I do not slavishly copy nature but go beyond the topographical with my gestural statements that attempt to capture the emotion of the moment and the place.
