The Argyll Papers are the archive of the Campbell family, Dukes of Argyll. Dating from the 12th century, the collection reflects the important political roles held by the Earls and Dukes through the centuries and the breadth of the estates they managed throughout Argyll and Bute. Described as 'one of the most important private archives in Scotland' by Professor Allan Macinnes, the Argyll Papers provide an incredibly rich resource to support the history and heritage of the area.
