Cuairt Chaluim Chille Mhàrtainn // St Columba travels to Kilmartin Exhibition
Posted by CHARTS
Cuairt Chaluim Chille // Touring St Columba celebrates the life and legacy of Colmcille and was displayed throughout Ireland in 2021, marking the 1500th anniversary of the birth of Colmcille. Now for the first time, the exhibition is coming to Scotland and has kindly been loaned by Donegal Museum to tour Argyll throughout 2023/24. The exhibition will tour key sites in Argyll over 12 months with a wide range of Gaelic culture and language events.
The exhibition celebrates the cultural, historical and religious inheritance of Colmcille, who holds significant prominence in the early history of Christianity. Revered as one of Ireland's three patron saints, his life has become interwoven with folklore and legends.
The exhibition will be on display at the Museum’s Learning Centre between 1 and 23 April, ahead of the Museum's re-opening on 25 April
Cuairt Chaluim Chille // Touring St Columba is hosted by CHARTS, supported by Argyll and Bute Council. This bold project partnership between Argyll and Ireland is made possible with joint support from Bòrd na Gàidhlig and Foras na Gaeilge to build from relationships grown during the themed year Colmcille 1500. A special thanks to the support of Donegal County Museum and the Department of Tourism, Culture, Arts, Gaeltacht, Sport and Media.
